KFC Partners with Alibaba's Qwen AI to Deploy Voice-Ordering Assistant Xiaok
KFC has officially launched its AI ordering assistant, "Xiao K," on its official app and select in-car partner systems. Developed using Alibaba's Qwen large language model, this move represents a significant step in the fast-food giant's commercialization of generative AI technology.

At its core, "Xiao K" integrates a large language model with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, providing robust natural language understanding and multi-turn conversation abilities. In practice, users can bypass complicated menu navigation. By simply stating a need like "feeding 10 people for a meeting with a 350-yuan budget, including several burgers," the system intelligently matches preferences and assembles a complete meal plan. Inside vehicles, the assistant enables a seamless voice-activated cycle of "selection, ordering, payment, and pickup," dramatically boosting service efficiency for drivers.

Furthermore, leveraging the model's long-term memory capability, "Xiao K" can offer personalized and accurate suggestions based on a customer's past order history.
