AI Hosts of NotebookLM Podcast Now Available for Interviews

It's tough to make waves in the ever-growing sea of AI products, but Google's NotebookLM has managed to do just that, becoming a viral sensation. The buzz around its Audio Overviews feature, which turns any content into a dynamic two-host podcast, is getting louder — and for good reason. It's only getting better.
On Friday, Google rolled out some exciting updates for NotebookLM, with the most eye-catching being the new ability to chat with the AI hosts in Audio Overviews. Before, you could only sit back and listen to their conversation. Now, you can jump in with your voice, and they'll respond like attentive tutors.
Imagine asking them to dive deeper into a topic or explain it in a different way. They'll tailor their answers based on the sources you provide, making your learning journey even more personalized.
This interactive feature is still experimental and won't work with existing Audio Overviews. To give it a try, you'll need to create a fresh Audio Overview, hit the "Interactive mode (BETA)" button, and whenever you feel like chiming in, just tap "join." The host will then invite you to speak.
NotebookLM has also gotten a facelift to make it more user-friendly. It's now split into three handy sections: a "Sources" panel for managing your input, a "Chat" panel for conversing with the AI, and a "Studio" panel where you can whip up new creations like Audio Overviews.
Google is also introducing NotebookLM Plus, a subscription plan that offers five times more Audio Overviews, notebooks, and sources per notebook. This plan seems tailored for institutions looking for more access and beefed-up security. Perks include shared team notebooks with usage analytics, plus extra privacy and security measures.
The subscription is now available for businesses, schools, universities, organizations, and enterprise customers through Google Workspace. You can also buy it separately via Google Cloud, which comes with enterprise-grade data protection. And keep an eye out — it'll be part of the Google One AI Premium plan for all users come early 2025.

This AI podcast thing is wild! I tried NotebookLM with my old college notes, and it’s like having two radio hosts summarize my chaos. Super cool, but I’m lowkey worried about AI taking over real podcasters’ jobs 😅. Anyone else tried this yet?
This AI podcast thing is wild! I tried NotebookLM with some old lecture notes, and it’s like having two radio hosts break it down for me. Super cool for studying, but I’m kinda worried it’ll make me too lazy to read. Anyone else hooked on this? 😄
