Xiaomi Launches Full-Hand Haptic Bionic Hand: 60% Smaller Volume, Bionic Sweat Gland Cooling
Xiaomi Robotics has shared its latest breakthrough in embodied intelligence, highlighting a full-hand tactile bionic hand engineered for industrial tasks. Building on earlier success—where a car factory self-tapping nut station achieved 90.2% success rate for dual-side installation over three continuous hours—the company now aims to push operational precision to the industrial extreme of 100% through combined software and hardware refinements.

The newest bionic hand closely mimics the human hand, with a 60% volume reduction over the prior version, matching the size of an adult male hand. Technical details reveal a 64% increase in degrees of freedom, and the full-hand tactile sensor coverage now spans 8,200 square millimeters. To prevent thermal runaway from dense motor integration, Xiaomi introduced a "bionic sweat gland"—a 3D-printed liquid cooling channel paired with a micro-pump system, enabling active cooling of about 10 watts via water evaporation. Reliability testing included 150,000 gripping cycles, resolving failures in tendons, springs, and other precision parts under heavy loads.
Xiaomi also open-sourced its tactile perception model TacRefineNet along with related embodied intelligence work, noting that high-dimensional data from tactile gloves can be directly applied to the bionic hand, simplifying homomorphic mapping.
