SK Hynix Taobao Flagship Store Closes; Warranty Status for Purchased Memory Remains Unclear
On August 24, news emerged that the SK Hynix flagship store on Taobao and Tmall abruptly announced its closure, sparking consumer concerns regarding after-sales warranty coverage for memory products. The store’s homepage indicated an independent shutdown scheduled for September 9, 2026, with all products already removed and the store no longer searchable on Taobao.
According to a People's Daily report from August 24, attempts to contact Tianjin Haili Shi Technology Co., Ltd.—the entity listed in the store’s public operation details—were unsuccessful. Established in July 2020 with a registered capital of 1 million yuan, the company’s business scope encompasses technical services and machinery and equipment sales.
Following consultations with multiple SK Hynix storage product dealers on Taobao and JD.com, it was found that individual stores operate independently, with after-sales service typically managed by each merchant. Some sellers offer services such as a five-year warranty with replacement instead of repair. Taobao customer service advised that if an order remains within the after-sales period after the store closes, consumers may attempt to initiate a repair or refund request via the order details page. If after-sales access is unavailable or the seller does not respond, customers can seek assistance from platform customer service or verify whether the product qualifies for brand official warranty.
Founded in 1983 and renamed SK Hynix after its acquisition by the SK Group in 2012, the company primarily manufactures DRAM, NAND Flash, and MCP storage products. It operates production facilities in Icheon and Cheongju, South Korea, as well as in Wuxi and Chongqing, China, and maintains sales and R&D bases across 16 countries and regions worldwide. The closure of this flagship store underscores the critical importance of brand authorization, channel entity accountability, and clear after-sales responsibility boundaries in online storage hardware sales.
