HomeSalesforce Invests $1B in Singapore to Enhance AI Adoption
Salesforce is set to pour $1 billion into Singapore over the next five years, aiming to boost the use of its AI agent development platform, Agentforce. The company believes that Agentforce can tackle Singapore's labor challenges by creating "digital workforces" that blend human workers with AI agents, enhancing the capabilities of the country's workforce and businesses.
This move comes on the heels of Salesforce's recent $500 million commitments in both Saudi Arabia and Argentina, focusing on expanding its AI and cloud services, including Agentforce.
Salesforce has been active in Singapore for almost 20 years and established its first international AI Research hub there in 2019. The company serves clients like Singapore Airlines, Grab, M1, FairPrice Group, and Ocean Network Express.
In a separate announcement, Salesforce revealed a partnership with Singapore Airlines to embed Agentforce, along with its AI layer, Einstein, in Service Cloud, and Data Cloud into the airline's customer case management system. The two companies also aim to create AI solutions for airlines at Salesforce's AI Research hub.
Salesforce has been heavily investing in AI for some time now. While it's cutting more than 1,000 jobs, it's also planning to hire around 2,000 new staff to push its AI products.
Other U.S. tech giants are also ramping up investments in Southeast Asia. Last May, Amazon Web Services announced a $9 billion investment over the next five years in Singapore to expand its cloud infrastructure and services. Meanwhile, Microsoft committed $2.2 billion in Malaysia and $1.7 billion in Indonesia over the next four years.
