Google Launches AI-Powered Business Calling, Debuts Gemini 2.5 Pro for Assistant
Google has announced the nationwide rollout of its new AI-powered business calling feature for all users in the United States. Additionally, the company is upgrading its AI Mode in Google Search by integrating the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and introducing advanced deep research capabilities.
This new business calling feature leverages artificial intelligence to contact local businesses on your behalf, gathering details about availability, services, and pricing. The goal of this tool is to help you quickly obtain the information you need without having to make a phone call yourself.
Google first started testing this functionality in January with participants who had enrolled in the company’s Search Labs experimental program.

In an email to TechCrunch, a Google representative confirmed that every automated call to a business begins by stating that it is an automated system calling from Google on behalf of a user.
It’s important to note that several years ago, Google received criticism for a similar business-calling tool that mimicked human speech, which raised concerns about transparency. In response to that feedback, Google committed to having its AI clearly identify itself as an automated assistant at the start of every call.
The new business calling feature is now becoming available to all Google Search users across the United States, with expanded usage limits offered to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.
