Your next Uber Eats order might feature menus enhanced with generative AI. The delivery platform is launching new tools designed to assist restaurants in advertising and engaging with customers. These include AI-powered menu descriptions and food photos, automated review summaries, a live chat function, and a system to compensate users for submitted images.
The AI features can generate enticing descriptions for menu items and condense customer reviews to quickly pinpoint areas for operational improvement. Uber Eats also notes it's employing AI to "detect and enhance low-quality food images" on menus. This process may adjust lighting, resolution, and composition, or even digitally reposition the food onto different plates or backgrounds. Example images suggest the tool might use generative AI to alter the food itself—for instance, making portions appear more generous or filling gaps when virtually re-plating.
For menu items lacking photos, customers can now upload pictures of their own orders when submitting a review. This global feature is accessible by tapping "add photos" on the order rating screen. Users in the US, UK, Canada, and Mexico may receive Uber app credits as payment if their photos are published.
