Meta AI now responds to buyer messages on Facebook Marketplace

Facebook Marketplace introduces new Meta AI features, including automated replies to buyer inquiries, the company announced Thursday. The platform also leverages AI to accelerate item listings, summarize seller profiles, and now lets sellers offer shipping on their listings.
Because sellers often receive numerous buyer inquiries, Facebook is simplifying the process with Meta AI-powered auto-replies. When a buyer asks about an item’s availability, sellers can use Meta AI to draft responses automatically based on listing details like description, availability, pickup location, and price. Sellers can enable, preview, and edit these replies while creating their listing.
This feature targets a common seller frustration: spending too much time on repetitive initial messages, such as inquiries about availability when it’s already indicated. Last year, one seller even built their own AI tool to manage such buyer questions.
Facebook Marketplace now enables sellers to automatically list items using Meta AI. By uploading an image, the AI generates a draft listing, populates details, and suggests a price based on comparable local items.
Buyers will now find a seller profile summary at the top of the Marketplace page, showing account age, friend count, Marketplace activity like listing history, item types sold, and seller ratings.
Sellers can also extend their audience by enabling shipping on listings, according to Facebook. They can generate prepaid labels and track orders from a straightforward dashboard.
These new AI capabilities build on Facebook Marketplace’s existing Meta AI tools, including a feature that helps buyers ask relevant purchase questions and AI-driven insights for vehicle listings.
