At NVIDIA's latest all-hands meeting, some employees voiced concerns about the high token consumption from heavy AI usage, suggesting it might be only superficial. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang publicly addressed this, clearly supporting employees in actively embracing new technologies.
Jensen Huang noted that people are naturally unfamiliar with new tools, but there's no need to aim for perfection from the start. The key is to take the first step. He stressed that it's fine to spend a little money while exploring new technology, but never waste time.
AI Is Not a Reason for Layoffs
On the sensitive topic that concerns many employees—whether AI will lead to layoffs—Jensen Huang gave a clear answer. He stated directly that employees will not be replaced by AI, but by those who know how to use AI. Therefore, not engaging with AI is what truly leads to layoffs.
He further explained that companies must accelerate their operations by effectively using AI and promoting automation, while maintaining greater ambitions. In the company's development strategy, AI is absolutely not an excuse for layoffs, but rather a way to avoid them.
Technology Adoption Bridges the Digital Divide
Jensen Huang also mentioned that if employees don't know how to operate AI, they can simply ask the AI itself, as this technology is extremely easy to use. For a long time, there has been a digital divide worldwide, and now is the best time to use AI to narrow that gap.
