With crab season on the horizon, Haman has introduced "AI inspectors" across its production sites and receiving warehouses this year. By integrating AI visual recognition with weight data to assess crab fatness, the company has streamlined the inspection and sorting process through automation.
Mu Xiao, Haman’s seafood purchasing officer, notes that the model’s accuracy and detection speed have improved significantly in 2025, thanks to data accumulated from over 10 million crabs. The system can now inspect 50 crabs in just one minute. When paired with a conveyor belt, this enables fully automated inspection and sorting, boosting overall efficiency by dozens of times. AI-sorted crabs are currently available for sale at Haman.
