Fudan University Expands AI Curriculum to Over 100 Courses

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated into higher education, is addressing the question of talent cultivation in the AI era through a major curriculum overhaul.
At the beginning of the Spring 2026 semester, the College of Computing and Intelligent Innovation at launched a new course for non-computer science majors: "Generative Software Development." The course's primary aim is not to train programmers, but to equip students from diverse academic backgrounds with generative AI skills, boosting their interdisciplinary innovation and tool application capabilities.
This initiative is part of 's broader AI education strategy. Since the Fall 2024 semester, the university has implemented a university-wide "AI Grand Lecture" series and developed 116 courses within its AI-BEST program, spanning humanities, social sciences, sciences, engineering, and medicine. This comprehensive approach seeks to make AI a fundamental, universal skill akin to English or basic computer literacy.
To bridge the gap between theory and practice, has implemented two key measures:
Integrating the research chain: Last year, the Xinghe Qizhi Scientific Intelligence Open Platform was formally incorporated into the AI curriculum, creating a seamless pathway from "learning AI in the classroom" to "applying AI for research in the lab."
Enhancing teaching guidance: Earlier this year, introduced the AI3A Education Co-creation Platform and published the "Guidelines for the Application of Generative AI in Teaching and Learning, Version 1.0," providing standardized guidance for all faculty and students on teaching and learning within an AI-enhanced environment.
