SoftBank Unveils New Smart Customer Service Solution via Exclusive Partnership with Sierra
Soufun Group revealed on July 14 that it has established a strategic partnership with American AI startup Sierra. Starting today, Soufun serves as Sierra’s exclusive partner in the Japanese market, and the two companies will collaborate to introduce next-generation customer service solutions powered by intelligent AI agents.
At present, Soufun’s online mobile brand Linemo already incorporates Sierra’s AI technology. Per the group’s strategy, this technology will be rolled out across all of its major brands, including Soufun (SoftBank) and Y!mobile, while also being gradually integrated into other business segments within the company.

Founded as a unicorn company by Bret Taylor, former chairman of OpenAI, Sierra excels at developing AI agents capable of advanced interaction and autonomous problem-solving. By bringing this technology into Japan’s telecommunications and business landscape, Soufun is accelerating the transition of large language model applications from conceptual demonstrations to practical use in specific industries. These intelligent AI agents go beyond simple automation of traditional customer service by fully integrating into corporate workflows to handle complex business tasks end-to-end.
Given Japan’s aging population and labor shortages, deploying mature AI-powered solutions for knowledge-intensive roles such as customer service has become essential for large enterprises aiming to improve operational efficiency. Soufun’s competitive advantage stemming from its exclusive partnership rights is expected not only to transform customer service experiences in the country but also to drive widespread adoption of enterprise-level AI agent technologies.
