Microsoft Developing 3D Gaming for Copilot

Microsoft seems to be diving deeper into the world of 3D gaming with its AI-powered chatbot, Copilot. A recent job listing has caught my eye, where they're on the hunt for a senior software engineer in Beijing with a knack for 3D rendering engines. We're talking about engines like Babylon.js, three.js, and Unity, which are often the backbone of those cool web browser-based video games.
The job description is pretty much a call to all the gaming enthusiasts out there, asking, "Are you passionate about gaming and interested in building innovative solutions for billions of users?" If you've got a gaming background or just a burning passion for it, Microsoft seems to be rolling out the red carpet for you.
Now, Microsoft hasn't been shy about wanting to blend gaming more deeply into the Copilot experience. Back in February, they showed off an AI model called Muse, which they claimed would soon power short interactive games on Copilot. Muse was trained on Ninja Theory's multiplayer game Bleeding Edge, and it's pretty impressive. It can grasp the 3D game world, from physics to how the game responds to your every move, allowing it to whip up AI-rendered gameplay.
But that's not all. Last May, Microsoft announced they were weaving Copilot into video games, starting with Minecraft. Imagine asking Copilot, "How do I craft a sword?" and it not only tells you but also rummages through your inventory to help you gather the materials you need. It even points you in the right direction to snag those missing pieces.
And in a move to make things even more engaging, Microsoft has been toying with "character-based" Copilot features. In January, a reverse engineer named Alexey Shabanov stumbled upon two animated characters in Copilot. These characters don't just sit there; they interact with users through sound effects and animations, adding a whole new layer of fun and interaction.
It's clear that Microsoft is pushing the envelope, trying to make Copilot not just a tool, but a gateway to more immersive and interactive gaming experiences.
