GM's Mikell Taylor to Headline Women in Robotics Breakfast at Robotics Summit

Mikell Taylor, GM's Head of Robotics Strategy, will discuss the critical role of trust at the Robotics Summit & Expo.
According to CareerExplorer, women currently make up only 19% of robotics engineers. This statistic means that many women at smaller robotics startups may find themselves as the sole female engineer on their team or within their entire company.
At the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston on May 27 and 28, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow robotics professionals in a dedicated setting designed for meaningful conversation and mentorship.
Featuring insights from Mikell Taylor, Head of Robotics Strategy at General Motors, and Joyce Sidopoulos, Co-founder and Chief of Operations at MassRobotics, this event provides a chance to forge new connections, strengthen existing relationships, and advocate for greater female representation in robotics leadership. The breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m. ET on the second day of the conference.
Following the breakfast, Taylor will also present a keynote address titled "What Makes a Robot Worthy?"
The Women in Robotics Breakfast is an add-on experience that must be selected during event registration. Tickets are limited, so we encourage you to secure your spot now.
About GM’s Mikell Taylor
Mikell Taylor has dedicated 25 years to building practical robots—from a robotic prom date to uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) and advanced industrial robotic systems. She currently directs robotics strategy for the Autonomous Robotics Center at General Motors.
Previously, Taylor led the Amazon Robotics team that developed Proteus, Amazon's first autonomous mobile robot (AMR). She is deeply committed to creating robots that are useful, dependable, and effective partners for the people who interact with them daily.
Taylor is also a recognized leader in Boston's tech community and was named one of The Boston Globe's Tech Power Players in 2023. Outside of her professional work, she serves on the board of Mbadika, a STEM non-profit focused on nurturing ideas and innovators. Taylor also coaches her eldest child's Lego robotics team, where, as she notes, she commands significantly less respect than in her day job.
Taylor holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Olin College, where she was a member of the institution's inaugural graduating class.
