Amazon AI Voice Feature Guides Users Through Product Details

Amazon is experimenting with new AI-generated audio summaries that allow you to listen to two AI "hosts" discuss a product's key features. These audio clips incorporate product details, user reviews, and information sourced from across the web.
This feature is currently accessible for a limited selection of products on Amazon's mobile app, such as the Ninja Blender, OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil, SHOKZ OpenRun Pro, and the SafeRest Waterproof Mattress Protector. To experience it, simply tap the "Hear the highlights" button located below the product description.
The audio summaries begin with a friendly notice that you're listening to an AI-generated segment. An "expert" AI host then introduces the product's features. This format is reminiscent of Google's AI-generated audio overviews, where two AI hosts converse about your research, documents, or slides in a podcast-style presentation.
In the audio clip for the SHOKZ OpenRun Pro, the AI host introduces "Max," who explains that the key innovation of these headphones is how they "conduct sound through your cheekbones rather than entering your ears." The host then asks follow-up questions about the design's ideal user and overall sound quality.
"While the microphone receives positive feedback for its noise cancellation, some users feel the volume isn't high enough for a fully immersive music experience," the AI expert Max notes. "However, customers also mention they outperform earpods in specific scenarios."
Amazon's AI-generated audio summaries are presently available only to a subset of customers in the United States. The company intends to expand this feature to more products and customers in the coming months.
