X Tests AI-Generated Tags, Warns of Account Suspensions
As AI-generated content becomes more common on social media, platforms are entering a stricter regulatory phase. Independent app researcher Nima Owji recently revealed that X (formerly Twitter) is quietly testing a new "Made with AI" content label. This feature aims to increase transparency around false or synthetic information on the platform.

AIbase has learned this feature is part of the "Content Disclosure" settings. When creators publish content, they can choose to activate this label. The system will then display a clear notice to viewers that the content was created with an AI tool. This represents a major step by X in tackling AI deepfakes and deceptive information.
Notably, using this label may eventually become mandatory. Researchers predict that once officially launched, X will likely require creators to proactively label AI-assisted content. Users who attempt to pass off AI-generated material as authentic and refuse to label it could face strict penalties. These may include reduced content visibility, temporary account suspension, or even permanent bans.
Other major platforms like Meta and YouTube have already implemented similar AI content labeling systems. AIbase believes X 's initiative seeks to rebuild information trust in an increasingly complex online environment. For creators, the future guidelines are clear: using AI to enhance productivity is permitted, but audiences must be informed.
