Salesforce Buys AI Customer Service Platform Fin for $3.6 Billion
The artificial intelligence sector has witnessed another major acquisition. Enterprise service giant Salesforce recently announced its official plan to acquire AI customer service platform Fin for $3.6 billion. This deal not only marks Salesforce's strategic expansion in intelligent service, but also underscores its commitment to advancing enterprise automation capabilities.
Fin originally operated as Intercom, a well-known interactive platform, and has earned industry recognition for its powerful AI agent technology. The platform handles customer inquiries across multiple channels, including live chat, SMS, instant messaging tools (such as WhatsApp and Slack), and voice calls. This multi-channel service coverage is a key factor behind Salesforce's decision to bring Fin under its wing.

Salesforce's primary goal with this acquisition is to leverage Fin's team and technical expertise to enhance its existing enterprise-level AI platform, Agentforce. Currently, Agentforce helps businesses build custom AI agents for workflow automation. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff noted in a statement that Fin's mature intelligent agent technology and deep background in customer service will provide a strong boost to Agentforce, enabling companies of all sizes to quickly increase and scale business value through more trustworthy AI tools.
Fin co-founder and CEO Eoghan McCabe shared a positive outlook on social media regarding the deal. He noted that once integrated into Salesforce's robust resource framework, Fin's technological progress will enter a "fast track." Meanwhile, McCabe and key team members plan to remain with the company, preserving the original product roadmap to ensure service continuity and expertise.
According to the plans announced by both parties, the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce's fiscal year 2027. As large language models gain traction in enterprise service environments, Salesforce's capital-driven reinforcement of the intelligent agent space adds further potential to the future of customer experience management.
