OpenAI Teams With Grab to Embed ChatGPT Training for 300,000 Users

OpenAI has brought AI education directly to the streets and alleys of Southeast Asia. This Wednesday, it launched a collaboration with Grab, a Singapore-based transportation and food delivery platform, to offer an artificial intelligence training program for drivers, merchants, and delivery riders within the Grab ecosystem, teaching these frontline workers how to effectively apply ChatGPT in their daily operations.
This initiative spans four markets: Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with the goal of training approximately 30,000 professionals over the next two years. For drivers and delivery riders focused on tangible benefits, the barrier to entry is minimal: participants receive free three-month access to ChatGPT Plus, allowing them to learn practical AI skills through courses rather than just attending a one-off event.
Grab is more than just a platform for taxi rides or food orders; it connects millions of drivers, merchants, and delivery personnel, making it one of the largest flexible employment platforms in the region. By partnering with Grab, OpenAI extends the reach of ChatGPT training to offline groups traditionally overlooked by tech companies—those who spend their days behind the wheel, managing a store counter, or riding electric scooters. For the first time, these individuals are being systematically integrated into the AI user base. As large language models move beyond engineers and office workers to help delivery riders optimize routes and assist small business owners with content creation, AI’s integration into the real economy is finally taking hold.
