To tackle this, Hellmann’s, the folks famous for their yummy mayonnaise, have come up with something pretty cool. They've launched a tool called Meal Reveal, which uses AI to whip up tasty meals from whatever's lurking in your fridge. This AI kitchen buddy runs on Google Cloud, giving it the muscle to quickly scan your fridge and match what's inside to some delicious recipes.
Here's the lowdown on how it works:
- Scan your stash: Just point your phone at your fridge, snap some pics, or shoot a quick video. It's like taking stock of your leftovers.
- Analyse ingredients: Meal Reveal taps into Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform. It uses tools like Gemini Pro Vision and PaLM 2, plus Unilever’s own AI checks, to spot everything from random veggies to forgotten meats.
- Get meal suggestions: With Vertex AI Vector Search and a special Unilever algorithm, it digs through a recipe database and comes up with meal ideas that are anything but boring, sparking your culinary creativity.
Meal Reveal kicked off today, right in the middle of WRAP UK's Food Waste Action Week. This campaign's all about getting businesses, government groups, and global partners to team up and create tools to slash food waste and help folks save some cash.
