Pixel 10's Top New Features Unveiled
Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 10 lineup, and there's plenty to explore. Following last year's pattern, there are four models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These phones introduce several meaningful upgrades and new features that could make upgrading worthwhile.
Here are some of the standout new features in Google's latest phones.
Built-in Pixelsnap magnets and Qi2 wireless charging support
Google is finally matching Apple by integrating magnets directly into the Pixel 10 series, ensuring the phones securely attach to wireless chargers. This feature, branded as "Pixelsnap," will be accompanied by official accessories like a dedicated charger available for purchase. The Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro Fold are all Qi2-certified, supporting wireless charging speeds up to 15W. Meanwhile, the 10 Pro XL, with its Qi2.2 certification, reaches up to 25W wireless charging. (Wired charging speeds are also faster across the Pixel 10 lineup.)
A third rear camera arrives on the base Pixel model
Google is introducing a third camera on the Pixel 10: a 5x telephoto lens that delivers what the company calls "10x optical image quality" and "Super Res Zoom up to 20x." While it's great that a telephoto lens is no longer exclusive to higher-end models, the Pixel 10's main and ultrawide cameras see a slight specification decrease compared to the Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 features a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide, down from the Pixel 9's 50MP main and 48MP ultrawide cameras.

Google's latest foldable boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, making it significantly more resilient to dust than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and many competing foldables. The "6" in the rating confirms the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is officially "dust-tight." This is a major improvement over the previous generation's IPX8 rating and even surpasses the IP48 rating of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7.
New AI-powered tools take center stage
With Google's current focus heavily on AI, it's no surprise this emphasis extends to its phones. The Pixel 10 series introduces several practical AI-driven features. One, called Magic Cue, proactively offers suggestions based on your activity, such as displaying flight details when you call an airline. Another feature, Camera Coach, provides real-time guidance to help you capture better photos.

Wow that new Tensor 5 chip sounds like a beast! The article says it's specifically designed for on-device AI tasks, which makes me wonder – does this mean my Google Assistant will finally stop misunderstanding my 'turn off the living room lights' command? 😅 Exciting to see a dedicated AI button too, though I hope it's not just a marketing gimmick.
