Canva Unveils Dream Lab with Leonardo.ai's Image Generation Technology

In the crowded space of AI text-to-image generators, standing out is no easy feat. Yet, Leonardo.ai has managed to do just that, earning accolades on ZDNET's list of top AI image generators. Now, this impressive technology is making its way into Canva, enhancing the platform's capabilities.
This week, Canva unveiled its new Dream Lab, powered by Leonardo.ai, which the company snapped up just three months ago. The Dream Lab is set to become the go-to spot for all your text-to-image and graphic creation needs, thanks to Leonardo's powerful Phoenix foundational model.
Canva users can now dive into a world of creativity, generating content in more than 15 styles, from 3D renders to illustrations. You can even use reference images and handle multi-subject scenes. Not only that, but the Dream Lab will boost the output quality of Canva's Magic Studio, which houses tools like Magic Design, Magic Media, Background Remover, and Magic Eraser, among others.
With Canva's already vast content library of over 100 million photos, graphics, audio, and templates, the addition of Artlist's Premium Video Library and 150,000 photos from Pocstock's library takes things to a whole new level. Pair that with the ability to generate high-quality images right within the platform, and designers are looking at a playground of endless possibilities.
Canva hasn't stopped there. They've rolled out a bunch of new features too, like Custom Mockups, which transform your photos into on-brand mockup templates; Polls and quizzes, allowing users to whip up customizable polls right in the editor; and the option to collaborate on Canva projects directly within Google Workspace.
Even some existing features have gotten a fresh coat of paint, including Whiteboards, Magic Write, and Presentations. While Canva hasn't spilled the beans on when we can expect these new features, including the Dream Lab, to roll out, you can still get a taste of Leonardo.ai's capabilities. It's free and user-friendly, just head over to their standalone site to give it a whirl.
