Xiaohongshu Restructures: Conan Named President, Creates AI Primary Department Dots and Overseas Division Rednote
On April 30, Xiaohongshu sent an internal memo to all employees announcing the launch of a new organizational restructuring. The core of this change involves fully integrating three business lines—community, e-commerce, and commercialization—along with the company's technical system. A new AI-first department named "Dots" was established, signaling that Xiaohongshu has officially elevated AI to its highest strategic priority, aiming to shift from a tool-based function to a core productive force.

In terms of personnel assignments, Nan (Ding Ling) has been appointed President of Xiaohongshu, responsible for the company's core business operations and reporting directly to CEO Xingyu. The heads of specific business sectors have also been clearly defined: Zhiheng will lead the large commerce sector, overseeing advertising and e-commerce transactions; Palu will take charge of the community sector, focusing on user growth and ecosystem health; and Xiahou will be responsible for the algorithm system, providing foundational technical support for core businesses.
The newly established Dots department will build a complete end-to-end system covering model development, infrastructure, engineering implementation, and product applications. Meanwhile, Xiaohongshu has created a Corporate Intelligence Department, merging the former Enterprise Efficiency and Data Science departments, with the goal of building an organizational foundation suited for the AI era through data and talent. Additionally, the internal memo revealed the formation of an Overseas Business Department called "Rednote", clearly setting the goal of achieving a breakthrough from zero to one in international operations, with plans to promote its lifestyle community model globally.
Industry analysts point out that this major move by Xiaohongshu aims to break down business silos and drive deeper collaboration in the "discovery-to-transaction" loop using AI technology. As traffic dividends diminish, concentrating resources on AI and internationalization not only continues the technical path (such as the earlier OpenStoryline), but also represents a key step for Xiaohongshu to build a second growth curve and establish a differentiated competitive edge in the fiercely competitive content platform landscape.
