As large language models move from early-stage breakthroughs to mature commercial deployment, Tencent Cloud's Intelligent Agent Development Platform has announced a new billing strategy for several of its AI models, effective March 13, 2026. The update ends free trials for public test models and revises pricing for the proprietary Huan Yuan series, marking a significant step in building a sustainable AI business ecosystem on the platform.
Among the changes, three high-performance models—GLM5, MiniMax2.5, and Kimi2.5—will officially conclude their limited-time free public testing. Starting at midnight Beijing time on March 13, these models transition to commercial use, adopting a pay-as-you-go billing model based on token consumption. Developers should plan their budgets according to business scale and enable the postpaid billing option in the platform dashboard to ensure uninterrupted access to related application services.
Meanwhile, Tencent’s proprietary Huan Yuan series models are also undergoing a pricing restructure. The Tencent HY2.0Instruct and Tencent HY2.0Think models now adopt a tiered pricing plan, offering more flexible rates to accommodate enterprises of different sizes. While the billing shift may increase short-term costs for some users, it reflects the platform’s efforts to optimize resource integration, delivering more stable, high-quality model services while guiding the industry toward a value-driven, virtuous cycle.
In response, Tencent Cloud advises users to monitor billing resource list changes closely and take advantage of package subscriptions and other discounts to manage expenses. As demand for generative AI compute power continues to rise, this transition from "public test perks" to "precise billing" is not only a necessary optimization for Tencent Cloud’s business system but also signals that the domestic AI industry is accelerating beyond broad expansion, moving deeper into value-driven and cost-efficient territory.
