Tech Leaders Embrace AI Avatars for Earnings Calls

Tech company CEOs are not only prioritizing AI in their businesses but are now using AI avatars to represent them during earnings calls.
Buy-now-pay-later firm Klarna showcased an AI version of CEO and co-founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski in an 83-second video discussing its Q1 2025 results, according to TechCrunch. The video’s description notes that his “AI avatar” presents the results, with the avatar opening by stating, “It’s me, or rather, my AI avatar.”
Klarna has been open about its AI integration, with Siemiatkowski telling CNBC this month that AI investments have contributed to reducing the company’s workforce. This isn’t the first instance of Klarna using an AI version of Siemiatkowski for earnings reports.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan also utilized an AI avatar for the company’s Q1 2026 earnings call on Wednesday. “Today, I’m using our custom avatars for Zoom Clips with AI Companion to share my part of the earnings report,” Yuan’s avatar announced in a video, which displayed “created with Zoom AI Companion” in the top right corner.
The real Yuan participated in the live Q&A session, however. “I truly love my AI-generated avatar,” he remarked in response to the first question. “I think we’ll keep using it. I really enjoy that experience.” This aligns with Yuan’s vision of “digital twins” attending meetings on behalf of users.
