Snapchat Launches Sponsored AI Lenses for Brands

Snapchat is shaking things up with their latest ad innovation: Sponsored AI Lenses. This new feature allows brands to connect with users in a way that's way more engaging than your typical advertisement. Sure, Snapchat has been letting brands sponsor lenses for a while now, but the game's changed—they're now tapping into Snap's own cutting-edge generative AI tech to create these experiences.

These interactive lenses let brands dive into a whole new level of fun and engagement. Imagine snapping a selfie and finding yourself whisked away into an entirely different AI-generated world. That's what these lenses offer, providing users with a playful way to interact with brands.

When you take a selfie with an AI Lens, Snap does its magic by analyzing your face and seamlessly integrating you into an AI-crafted scene. According to an email to TechCrunch, each AI Lens comes with a preset prompt and pose, delivering up to 10 unique experiences all within one lens. It's like stepping into a mini-universe every time you take a selfie!

In a recent blog post, Snap shared that they've been honing their generative AI technology over the last couple of years to streamline high-quality creative outputs. "Sponsored AI Lenses eliminate the need for 3D and VFX design," they noted, explaining how AI-generated templates are speeding up production timelines and making things more efficient.

Already, brands like Tinder and Uber are jumping on the bandwagon. Tinder's ad let users create a personalized image of themselves with the tagline "My 2025 Dating Vibe," while Uber's had a Thanksgiving theme. It turns out that users are spending more time playing around with these Sponsored AI Lenses compared to the standard ones. Both Tinder and Uber noticed their users sticking around longer, soaking in the new AI creative format.

This launch is just another step in Snap's ongoing journey with generative AI. Just last month, they rolled out their first video generative AI Lenses, and back in February, they unveiled an AI text-to-image research model for mobile devices. It's clear that Snapchat is all in on using this technology to enhance their platform and keep users engaged.
