On June 1st, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced on social media that the company is re-entering the robotics field, releasing job openings for the OpenAI Robotics team. The company is hiring full-stack hardware, operations, systems, and machine learning engineers. This move marks a return to physical-world embodied intelligence after shutting down its earlier robotics business, aiming to extend its leading large model capabilities from the digital world into real physical environments.
Altman emphasized that the true value of artificial intelligence lies in providing substantial real-world assistance.
