Nintendo Preps Enhanced Switch 2 Versions for Multiple Games
Nintendo is launching a broader than expected range of free updates as it prepares for the Switch 2's June 5th release. According to support pages found by Nintendo Life, these updates are designed to optimize game performance on the new hardware.
The additional titles confirmed for enhancement include:
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Kirby’s Dream Buffet
- Kirby Star Allies
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3
- Pikmin 3 Deluxe
For most titles, Nintendo notes that several gameplay adjustments have been made to enhance the experience on Switch 2, though specific changes weren't detailed. This follows last month's announcement of updates for over a dozen games, such as Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
These free performance updates are distinct from the paid upgrades available for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Third-party developers are also delivering free Switch 2 enhancements. Fortnite will feature higher frame rates, improved resolution, and GameChat support. Meanwhile, No Man’s Sky is adding multiplayer functionality, touchscreen controls, gyro support, and cross-save capability.
