Nintendo Increases Original Switch Console Price to $339
The original Nintendo Switch, priced at $299.99 in the US since its 2017 debut, is now listed at $339.99 on Nintendo's official online store. Other first-generation Switch models have also seen price hikes: the Switch OLED has increased from $349.99 to $399.99, and the Switch Lite has risen from $199.99 to $229.99.
Nintendo stated on Friday that the price adjustment was "based on market conditions," following a similar move in Canada on August 1st. The US announcement came a day after President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing new "reciprocal" tariffs on various countries. Among the expanding list of tariffs is a 20 percent duty on Vietnamese imports, a country where Nintendo has relocated much of its manufacturing.

Nintendo has also implemented a $10 increase for the Alarmo and Switch 1 Joy-Cons, which now retail for $109.99 and $89.99, respectively. Prices for the Switch 2 console, along with physical and digital games for both Switch and Switch 2, remain unchanged.
Following these increases, the Switch OLED is now priced only slightly below the $449.99 Switch 2, which lacks an OLED display. The Switch 2 has been exceptionally successful, selling over 6 million units since launch despite ongoing challenges in meeting demand.
