A MacBook is an investment, and you want to strike the right balance—avoiding both overspending on unnecessary power and underbuying for your needs. While the exact performance difference between the M3 and M4 chipsets isn't fully known, Apple has stated that the M4 is 1.3 times faster at handling productivity tasks than the M3.

For students or those who primarily use Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, the MacBook Air is a better fit due to its lighter weight. If your laptop use is limited to casual browsing, streaming, emailing, and FaceTiming, the Air, especially the M2 model, will serve you well without breaking the bank.
