Intel Joins Musk's Terafab Project for Terawatt Chip Factory
Intel officially confirmed yesterday that it has joined Elon Musk's Terafab AI chip initiative, entering a strategic partnership with SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI to propel this currently world-leading chip manufacturing project forward. Tesla later verified the announcement via the X platform, describing Terafab as a comprehensive semiconductor manufacturing venture that integrates logic chips, memory, and advanced packaging technologies.

Under the collaboration framework, Terafab's central objective is to achieve an annual production capacity of 1 terawatt (TW) of computing power. This aims to supply the foundational computational resources required for next-generation AI models and robotic technologies. Musk first revealed the project in March 2026, with its headquarters established in Austin, Texas. The campus blueprint calls for the construction of two state-of-the-art factories: one to address the computing demands of Tesla's electric vehicles and humanoid robots, and the other dedicated to creating AI data centers engineered for the rigors of space exploration.
