British MP Slams xAI’s Grok for Letting Through Child Porn Deepfakes
British Labour Party MP Jess Asato has initiated legal proceedings against Elon Musk’s AI firm xAI in the UK High Court, alleging that its Grok platform was used to maliciously generate and distribute explicit deepfake images of her.
Asato argues that this vulgar content, which infringes on the rights of thousands of women and minors, reflects a deliberate design choice rather than an accidental error. She is pursuing legal action to hold the designers accountable, demanding a public apology and financial compensation for the harm caused.

Security Measures Fail as Harmful Content Spreads
Despite xAI’s January claims of restricting Grok’s image editing capabilities to prevent the generation of explicit content, February media reports revealed significant loopholes. Users were able to easily bypass these safeguards using specific prompts.
Following Asato’s public criticism, fake images of her in a bikini and more severe fabricated abuse videos appeared online. This follows a similar lawsuit by Baltimore City, which accused xAI of violating local consumer protection laws.
Landmark Suit Challenges AI Design, Highlights Safety Risks
The legal director of AWO Law Firm, representing Asato, described this as one of the first global lawsuits targeting the fundamental design of AI products. The firm aims to send a clear message that AI developers cannot treat safety as an afterthought or an after-the-fact fix.
xAI, a SpaceX subsidiary, is currently preparing for an IPO that could become the largest in history. This legal challenge regarding AI ethics and data privacy serves as a critical warning for the entire generative AI sector.
