Beijing Launches 'Clearing the Web: AI for Good' Drive Against Five AI Online Abuses

The Beijing Internet Information Office has launched a month-long special campaign called "Clear and Bright Jinghua · AI for Good" to address AI misuse, protect the online environment, and promote healthy AI development.
Key Issues to Address:
Combating AI-Generated Pornographic and Obscene Content: Focus on eliminating the use of AI to create and spread content harmful to minors, including pornography and violence, as well as shutting down illegal AI-powered "undressing" services and apps.
Cracking Down on AI-Generated Infringement and Counterfeit Content: Target unauthorized use of AI face-swapping and voice synthesis to impersonate public figures for commercial marketing or advertising.
Investigating AI-Generated False Rumors: Crack down on the malicious creation and alteration of false information about politics, people's livelihoods, and emergencies using AI, and prevent sensationalized hype through misrepresentation.
Banning the Sale of "AI Identification Removal" Services: Focus on curbing profit-driven activities that sell or teach how to remove, alter, or hide AI identification tools and tutorials via e-commerce and social media platforms.
Urging Platforms to Strengthen Review and Response Capabilities: Encourage websites and platforms to fulfill their primary responsibilities and improve technical capabilities for identifying, tracing, and quickly handling AI-generated content.
The Beijing Internet Information Office stated it will continue supervising local platforms to ensure the campaign's effectiveness and foster a positive, constructive online environment.
