Apple AI Smart Glasses Unveil Gesture Control and Dual Cameras for 2026 Launch
According to reports from MacRumors and other sources, Apple is ramping up development of its AI-powered smart glasses, internally codenamed "N50," to compete with Meta's Ray-Ban. The glasses will feature deep integration with Apple Intelligence, using gesture control as the primary method of interaction. Hardware-wise, they are expected to include two built-in cameras: a high-resolution lens for photos and videos, and a lower-resolution wide-angle lens dedicated to recognizing hand gestures and providing visual data to Siri.

To achieve a sleek, lightweight form factor, Apple is reportedly forgoing 3D cameras, LiDAR sensors, and built-in screens in this first-generation model. This "screenless" approach drastically cuts power consumption, allowing for a smaller battery and enabling all-day wear. Technologically, Apple is adapting the proven gesture navigation system from the Vision Pro, combining it with recent patents for "spatial shopping" and "visual guidance" to create a touch-free, AI-vision-based interactive ecosystem.
