Apple's plan to roll out a more personalized Siri experience, which was part of their Apple Intelligence initiative, is hitting the brakes. In a statement released on Friday and shared by the Apple blog Daring Fireball, the tech giant confessed that it's gonna take them longer than they initially thought to get these new Siri features out the door. Now, they're looking at a release sometime in the "coming year."
Remember when Apple announced this at their Worldwide Developers Conference last year? They promised a beefed-up Siri that could really get to know you—your relationships, your daily chats, your routine, and all that jazz. CEO Tim Cook was all about it, calling it not just AI, but "personal intelligence," and he was pretty pumped, saying it was the "next big step for Apple."
Plus, the Siri update was supposed to make it more handy by letting it do stuff for you, not just within one app, but across different apps too.
This news comes at a time when folks are saying Apple's falling behind in the AI race, making Siri look even more out of touch compared to the likes of ChatGPT.
