AI-Driven Traffic Effectively Displaces Human Audiences, Report Finds
Human Security, a safety company, recently published its "2026 AI Traffic and Cyber Threat Benchmark Report," revealing a fundamental shift on the internet: automated traffic from AI and bots is quickly overtaking humans as the primary participants in online interactions.
According to the report, AI-driven traffic nearly tripled by 2025, growing eight times faster than human activity.
Automated Traffic Surge: From Crawlers to Intelligent Agents
The report notes that AI-driven monthly traffic jumped 187% in 2025, while traffic from AI agents and proxy browsers soared 7,851% year over year.
This explosive growth stems primarily from generative AI's massive data appetite and the widespread adoption of autonomous agents like OpenClaw. Currently, more than 95% of AI traffic is concentrated in retail, media, and tourism, where machines have effectively replaced humans as the primary "conversational partners" on the other end of the connection.

Escalating Cyber Threats: Attack Frequency Has Doubled
As traffic patterns shift, security risks rise. The report indicates that global crawler attacks now account for nearly 20% of all traffic, doubling since 2022. More concerning, post-login account intrusion attempts have more than quadrupled year over year, with an average of over 400,000 such attacks detected per organization.
Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince predicts that by 2027, AI bot traffic will officially surpass human traffic. This signals the erosion of the internet's foundational assumption that "the other end of the screen is a person," transforming cyberspace into a battleground of machines.
