Wuxi High-Tech District Unveils 12 Measures to Back OpenClaw, Offering Up to 5 Million Yuan in Subsidies
On March 9, 2026, during the "Artificial Intelligence +" Three-Year Action Plan Promotion Conference and the "AI + Manufacturing" Innovation Development Conference, Wuxi High-tech Zone unveiled the "Several Measures on Supporting the Integration and Development of OpenClaw and Other Open Source Community Projects with the OPC Community (Draft for Comments)." This initiative seeks to lower deployment barriers for OpenClaw—a widely adopted open-source AI agent nicknamed "Lobster" for its distinctive red lobster logo—and accelerate "AI + Manufacturing" industrialization through 12 targeted measures.
The policy establishes comprehensive financial and resource support across the project lifecycle. Local cloud platforms that establish an "OpenClaw Service Area" and offer free toolkits can receive subsidies of up to 1 million yuan. Additionally, companies utilizing smart computing power platforms and purchasing data annotation services are eligible for annual subsidies ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 yuan.
For core application scenarios, Wuxi High-tech Zone will prioritize the development of industrial large models using OpenClaw. Projects that achieve national-level registration for vertical large models will be awarded 500,000 yuan, while those demonstrating key technologies such as embodied intelligence or intelligent quality inspection using these open-source tools can receive support of up to 5 million yuan.
Addressing recent warnings from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regarding security risks like "ambiguous trust boundaries" when OpenClaw is misconfigured, the measures enforce a strict safety baseline. Deployments must pass domestication compatibility certification, and cloud platforms are required to implement the principle of least privilege and conduct regular penetration testing.
