WeChat Open Platform Unveils AI Access Rules, Mini Programs Now Support Direct WeChat AI Invocation
On June 8, 2026, WeChat Open Platform officially released the "Guidelines for Developers to Access the WeChat AI Ecosystem," stating that it now provides mini-program developers with convenient access to the WeChat AI ecosystem. This step underscores WeChat's push to accelerate the development of an intelligent interaction ecosystem. Once integrated, mini-programs can be recommended and invoked by WeChat AI, helping users discover and use services more efficiently. On the other hand, mini-programs that are not integrated will not be invoked by WeChat AI.
To address the development needs of teams of varying sizes, the platform has introduced two access modes that can be enabled simultaneously without conflict, while fully respecting developers' rights and autonomy.
Among these, "Auto Mode" lets developers authorize the platform to read the mini-program's source code during submission for review. The platform then automatically analyzes the mini-program's pages and performs direct WeChat AI operations, requiring no additional development costs. "Development Mode," on the other hand, allows developers to carry out independent, customized development based on their own business needs, and can be called upon once it passes the platform's evaluation and review.
The feature is currently in internal testing.
