TikTok Executive Announces First Use of Domestic AI Video Model Seedance2.0 at CCTV Spring Festival Gala
On February 16, 2026, ByteDance Vice President Li Liang announced during a press conference that the CCTV Spring Festival Gala will be the first public project worldwide to extensively apply Seedance 2.0, a domestic AI video generation model.
This marks a major breakthrough in China's AI video technology. Developed by the Douyin team, Seedance 2.0 has been integrated into the Douyin app, desktop, and web versions. Users can simply select the new "Seedance 2.0" option in the app's chat window, enter relevant prompts, and generate 5- or 10-second video content.

Notably, tests indicate that the app currently cannot generate videos featuring celebrities, suggesting the technology is still in its early stages. Li Liang stated that this collaboration with the Spring Festival Gala not only delivers a brand-new audiovisual experience to viewers but also provides an important platform for promoting and applying domestic AI technology.
As the technology continues to improve, Seedance 2.0 is expected to meet increasingly diverse content generation needs. The Spring Festival Gala, a culturally influential event, has chosen to use this technology, opening up new possibilities for AI applications in the media industry.
