Tencent extends free access to Hunyuan Hy3, WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy users until August 5
Tencent has extended the free trial period for its Hy3 large language model. Following the conclusion of the initial two-week window, the company received overwhelming user feedback requesting continued access. In response, Tencent announced an extension for WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy users, with the promotional offer running until August 5th.
This extension specifically targets users of Tencent’s AI-powered office and development tools. Developers and enterprise clients can continue leveraging the intelligent assistance features powered by the Hy3 model. Previously, the free trial allowed users to evaluate Hy3’s performance in code generation, development support, and workflow automation.

As AI large models transition from general question-answering systems to specialized productivity tools, code generation and smart office applications have emerged as key competitive arenas. By extending the free trial, Tencent aims to broaden Hy3’s adoption in real-world business settings and gather valuable user insights to further refine the model.
From an industry standpoint, major AI providers are lowering barriers to entry through free trials and developer initiatives, accelerating the integration of large models into high-frequency workflows like coding and office tasks. As competition intensifies, model performance, cost-efficiency, and ecosystem compatibility will remain decisive factors for users.
