Anthropic to Build New Texas AI Data Center With Google Backing

AI infrastructure investment is surging to new heights. Industry sources reveal that Nexus Data Centers is actively negotiating a $1.5 billion financing package to support a major AI facility for Anthropic in Texas, with Google acting as both guarantor and chip provider.
Under the proposed terms, Google will issue multi-billion-dollar debt guarantees if Anthropic defaults on lease or power payments. These guarantees cover multiple data center leases and on-site power purchase agreements, providing robust credit backing that secures Google’s core partnership while targeting approximately 20% equity returns from the facility and energy projects.
On the hardware front, the data center will integrate Google’s technology ecosystem, featuring large-scale tensor processing unit (TPU) chips designed by Google and Broadcom. Industry experts note that these custom chips will be procured via a separate financing agreement between Anthropic and Broadcom. As demand for large model computing power intensifies, strategic alliances and capital integration between top cloud providers and AI startups are growing tighter.
