Apple Users Can Claim Share of $95M Siri Privacy Settlement

Apple device owners in the US can now apply for a portion of a $95 million settlement addressing Siri privacy concerns. A dedicated website facilitates fund distribution for those who experienced unintended Siri activations during private conversations from September 17, 2014, to December 31, 2024.

The settlement stems from a 2019 class action lawsuit alleging Apple violated user privacy by capturing Siri-overheard conversations without consent and sharing them with third-party contractors for quality control. Apple issued an apology, committed to ceasing retention of user recordings, and denied claims of using Siri data for targeted advertising. In January 2025, Apple agreed to pay $95 million to resolve the lawsuit.

Claims are open until July 2, 2025, covering up to five Siri-enabled devices, such as iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV. Users must affirm under oath that Siri was unintentionally activated on each device. Approved claims are limited to $20 per device.

Eligible users who received a Claim Identification Code and Confirmation Code are being notified, but anyone who believes they qualify can submit a claim, regardless of notification status.

This Siri privacy settlement is wild! $95M sounds huge, but I wonder how much each person actually gets? 🤔 Probably just enough for a coffee. Still, it’s cool Apple’s being held accountable.
