Samsung Phones Integrate Unprompted AI Shopping Feature

InMobi's Glance AI brand has announced its collaboration with the Samsung Galaxy Store to launch its e-commerce platform on Galaxy devices in the United States. The app promotes itself as a "Generative AI shopping platform"—a phrase that might raise a few eyebrows. This setup includes both a standalone app and a lock‑screen component designed to showcase clothing recommendations. Importantly, the service is entirely optional, which is a relief. Even if you choose not to participate—and you probably should—this move signals a growing trend of advertisers using AI to push more products. Consider it a preview of what’s ahead.
InMobi might be familiar to some as the firm behind the intrusive e‑commerce features on recent Motorola budget phones. On Galaxy devices, the focus is a tool that uses generative AI and a user‑uploaded photo to generate images of them wearing various outfits, with new styles refreshed daily. Of course, you can purchase any item with a single tap. All of this can appear directly on your lock screen, and oddly, you can even save these AI‑generated images as wallpapers. That’s not a feature I’ll be trying myself.
Glance AI’s lock‑screen offerings differ by region. In its home market of India, the lock screen displays advertisements alongside news updates and sports scores. On Samsung phones, the current implementation thankfully does not include ads—at least for now. Personally, the moment an ad appears on my lock screen, I’d be tempted to toss my phone into the ocean. Let’s hope it never comes to that.
The rollout for Glance AI begins today for Samsung Galaxy S22, S23, S24, and S25 series devices, with full availability expected within the next 30 days. It will likely appear as an optional download in the Galaxy Store, though a push notification prompting users to install it wouldn’t be surprising.
