During today's iQIYI World Conference, founder and CEO Gong Yu took the stage for a keynote address, outlining the company's approach to navigating the sweeping changes brought by artificial intelligence. He announced that iQIYI will undergo a decentralized shift, enabling more creators to independently upload their work and take part in content creation.
Gong Yu noted that the advancement of AI will dramatically lower the cost and shorten the production timeline for content, likely leading to a surge in both creators and their output. He argued that the conventional centralized decision-making model can no longer keep pace with this transformation, so iQIYI must evolve into a community platform where creators and users collaborate. On this new platform, the video player will be reduced to a simple component, allowing creators to generate direct revenue through memberships and advertisements.
He added that while iQIYI will continue to produce some top-tier content using traditional methods, the broader strategy is to encourage more creators to express their originality. Gong Yu emphasized that iQIYI is actively seeking high-quality AI-generated films, and stressed an urgent need for talent that combines AI expertise with artistic vision to help drive the company's innovation.
The conference also underscored AI's impact on the film and television industry, particularly within the long-video segment. Gong Yu expects that within the next one to three years, AI will become widely adopted in film and TV production, reshaping the industry landscape. Through this transformation, iQIYI aims to foster a more open and diverse creative environment, attracting outstanding creators to join its platform.
