Prezent Secures $20M Funding for AI Slide Deck Development
Prezent, a startup that's all about helping folks craft slick slide decks using generative AI, just nabbed a cool $20 million. They're using this cash to jazz up their AI models for all sorts of uses and to break into new markets. It's pretty neat, right?
Now, AI can do a ton of stuff, and one of those things is whipping up presentations for businesses. But here's the thing—those off-the-shelf models? They're not cutting it because they don't get the lingo and jargon of specific industries. That's where Prezent steps in with their tech.
Founded back in 2021 by Rajat Mishra, who's worked at big names like Cisco and McKinsey, Prezent is based in Los Altos with a branch in Bengaluru. Mishra had a tough time with stuttering and speech issues when he was younger, which got him really into communication tech. He told TechCrunch, "The idea [for Prezent] was, wouldn't it be cool if we could build an AI platform that democratizes business communication and makes everyone a great business communicator?"
So, how does it work? You upload your stuff—Excel files, PDFs, links, you name it—and give Prezent's AI sidekick, Astrid, the lowdown on your company. You can throw in team lingo, specific terms, and any other preferences you've got.
Prezent uses AI models that they've tweaked with their own data, including a hefty dataset of 2 million slide decks. Plus, they're building specialized models for things like suggesting the perfect layout for your deck.

For companies racing against the clock and wanting that extra human touch, Prezent offers a speedy service that turns rough drafts into what they call "professional-grade" presentations. It's a mix of AI and human pros, like consultants and designers, who polish everything up overnight.
Prezent's already working with around 150 Fortune 2000 companies, mainly in biopharma and tech. With this new funding, which is all equity and an extension of their April 2022 Series A, they're eyeing financial services and manufacturing, and planning to expand into Europe, Japan, and Singapore.
They've got some clients in Europe already and are setting their sights on Southeast Asia for Q2 this year. Last year, they raked in over $10 million in annual recurring revenue, Mishra shared with TechCrunch.
Prezent's also gearing up to roll out APIs so developers can use their models to create presentations straight from chatbots, apps, search engines, and more.
Mishra pointed out to TechCrunch, "DeepSeek recently showed us that AI companies don't need these massive funding rounds to make a big impact any longer." Prezent's got "close to 200" employees, with 75% of them working remotely from India.
This latest round of funding, which bumps Prezent's valuation to "well over" $100 million, was led by Greycroft, with Zoom Ventures, Emergent Ventures, and WestWave chipping in. New investors like True Global Ventures (TGV), Manulife Ventures, and Alumni Ventures also joined the party.

Prezent's AI slide deck tool is pretty cool, but it's not perfect. It's great for quick presentations, but sometimes the AI goes a bit off the rails with the design. Still, for $20M, I expect more polish. Maybe they'll get there with the next update? 🤔
