OpenAI launches AI assistant Operator globally
OpenAI announced on Friday the global expansion of Operator—its AI assistant capable of completing user tasks—now available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the U.K., and other regions.
The company confirmed Operator will expand to nearly all ChatGPT-supported markets, excluding the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.
Initially launched in the U.S. last January, Operator joins a growing field of AI assistants capable of handling tasks like ticket booking, restaurant reservations, expense reporting, and online shopping.

The AI assistant sector remains competitive, with offerings from Google (currently waitlisted), Anthropic (API-based access), and Rabbit (device-dependent functionality) vying for market share.
