Notion Launches Developer Platform and Workers Environment, Pivots to AI Agent Orchestration Center
Notion has unveiled a new developer platform that turns its workspace into an "AI Agent Hub" through an orchestration layer for artificial intelligence agents. Since the platform's launch in February, users have already created over a million custom agents. At its May 13 event, Notion rolled out deeper enhancements to tackle existing agent limitations—like being unable to access external data or apply custom logic.

At the heart of this upgrade is a cloud sandbox called "Workers" that lets developers run custom code. Using the Notion CLI, they can deploy logic to pull and sync data from any external database with an API—like Salesforce or Zendesk. Workers also supports multi-step automated workflows triggered by Webhooks. Beyond that, Notion improved ecosystem compatibility by adopting the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, so users can now directly schedule top-tier third-party AI agents—such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Decagon—right inside their workspace.
