HomeNDRC blocks foreign takeover of Manus, urges Meta to void AI deal
On April 27, the National Development and Reform Commission officially issued a notice, in accordance with laws and regulations, prohibiting foreign investment from acquiring the general AI platform Manus and explicitly requiring all relevant parties to immediately cancel the transaction.
Launched in March 2025 as the world’s first general-purpose AI entity, Manus has demonstrated strong technological breakthroughs. By early December 2025, the platform had processed over 14.7 trillion tokens and created more than 80 million virtual computers.
