Microsoft has finally brought its free AI chatbot, Copilot, to macOS users, much to the delight of Mac enthusiasts. Similar to ChatGPT from OpenAI and other AI chatbots out there, Copilot lets you ask it anything and get AI-generated responses. It's pretty handy for a bunch of tasks like drafting emails, summarizing documents, whipping up cover letters, and more. Plus, it's got this cool image generator powered by DALL-E 3.

When Copilot first hit the scene two years back, you could only use it through web browsers like Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It wasn't until early 2024 that it made its way to Android, iOS, and iPadOS. You'll also find Copilot integrated into Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft apps. But now, with this new app, Mac users get their own dedicated Copilot experience.
Just a heads up, though: to run the macOS app, you'll need macOS 14.0 or a later version, and your Mac should have an M1 chip or newer. Speaking of Apple, their AI system, Apple Intelligence, needs macOS 15.1 and an M1 chip or later to work.
In other news, Microsoft just announced that all Copilot users can now enjoy free, unlimited access to the "Voice" and "Think Deeper" features. The Voice feature is great for practicing a new language, and Think Deeper, powered by OpenAI's o1 model, can handle those trickier tasks you throw at it.
