After fully embedding its AI assistant into office and system infrastructure, Microsoft is now bringing this revolution into the living room.
According to recent reports, Microsoft plans to officially launch the Copilot AI assistant on current-generation Xbox consoles (including Xbox Series X|S ) this year. That means gamers will soon enjoy a new interactive experience: stuck on a level? Instead of tossing your controller, just ask the AI.
This Copilot, tailored specifically for gaming, is incredibly powerful. It goes far beyond simple voice commands and is deeply integrated into the game ecosystem:
Real-time "tactical coach": When you're stuck in a game or struggling with a tough boss, simply use voice to activate it, and Copilot will offer strategy suggestions based on your current progress.
Material synthesis encyclopedia: For instance, in Minecraft , you can ask it directly what materials are needed to craft a sword, and the AI responds instantly—no more switching screens to check guides.
Game history expert: It can also answer questions about your personal gaming history and recommend the next must-play title based on your preferences.
Microsoft has already tested this feature on the Xbox mobile app , Windows 11 , and ROG Ally handheld devices. With its official console launch this year, the living room will truly become intelligent.
Notably, Microsoft is undergoing significant personnel changes and long-term planning. Asha Sharma, formerly head of the AI development team at Microsoft Enterprise, became Microsoft Games CEO in February. Meanwhile, the next-generation Xbox project, codenamed Project Helix, is in active development, with an alpha version expected around 2027 and deep PC game support.
