Cognition AI in Funding Talks as Valuation Soars to $40 Billion

Cognition, the creator of the acclaimed AI coding assistant Devin, has captured substantial interest from investors. Industry sources indicate the company is currently negotiating a fresh funding round, with projections suggesting its valuation will surge to a minimum of $40 billion.
This marks a dramatic shift from Cognition’s $1 billion funding round in May, which valued the company at roughly $2.6 billion. Reports attribute this steep valuation increase to an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion.
On the business front, Cognition’s founder and CEO, Wu Guoyun, revealed that enterprise adoption of Devin has grown by 50% month-over-month for the last six months. The platform now serves major global organizations, including Mercedes-Benz, NASA, and Goldman Sachs.
Wu Guoyun clarified that Devin is designed to augment, not replace, human developers by handling tedious, long-tail tasks. Key use cases include modernizing legacy software systems and facilitating smooth cross-platform application migrations. By solving these specific pain points, Devin has achieved rapid traction in the enterprise sector.
